What is Ethereum?

Ether is a digital currency that is used on the Ethereum network. Ethereum, like Bitcoin, operates on a public blockchain network.

At the same time, Bitcoin is used to track currency ownership, while the Ethereum blockchain focuses on running any decentralized application's programming code.

Security applications, voting systems, and payment methods are examples of such applications.

Like bitcoin, Ethereum operates outside the mandate of central authorities such as banks and governments.

Vitalik Buterin created the idea behind Ethereum. With the assistance of several co-founders, he launched the first version of the platform in 2015.

Since then, it has grown to become the second-largest cryptocurrency and has aided in the emergence of new competitors to bitcoin.
